Yadavindra Gardens (Pinjore Gardens): Timings, Ticket & History
If you have ever admired the intricate symmetry and beauty of Mughal architecture, you do not need to travel all the way to Kashmir or Agra. Just a short drive from Chandigarh, located in the Panchkula district, lies the breathtaking Yadavindra Gardens, more popularly known as Pinjore Gardens.
Spread over a massive 100 acres, this historical masterpiece is a brilliant example of terraced gardens. Whether you are a history buff, a nature lover, or a family looking for a perfect weekend picnic spot, Pinjore Gardens has something magical to offer for everyone.
🕌 The Royal Mughal Architecture
The history of Pinjore Gardens dates back to the glorious Mughal era. It was originally built by Nawab Fidai Khan, who was the foster brother of Emperor Aurangzeb and is famously known as the brilliant architect behind the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore.
Unlike traditional Mughal gardens that are flat, Pinjore Gardens was uniquely designed with seven descending terraces. As you walk down the central water channel, you will come across stunning historical structures seamlessly blended with nature, including the Shish Mahal (Palace of Glass), the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), the Jal Mahal (Palace of Water), and the intricately painted Rang Mahal.
